In 2018, GEI launched a new program that will enhance our expertise in conservation and trade by expanding our work to one of the world’s largest and most critical ecosystems – the ocean.
Marine ecology is simultaneously facing threats from the natural world and mankind. Climate change is impacting water temperature and breeding habits, shorelines and migration patterns, while pollution, fishing and trading done by humans is threatening the future of the ecosystem. The focus of our Marine Conservation program is to apply science-based research techniques to build cases to improve marine conservation policies in China and abroad.
