Dr. Ji-Qiang Zhang is the Chair of the Steering Board that oversees the development of GEI and GEIF. An expert in environmental policy, integrated resource planning, watershed management and civil society development, Dr. Zhang’s guidance and vision has helped GEI stay on the leading edge of China’s environmental work and sustainable development policy.
In addition to his role at GEI, Dr. Ji-Qiang served as the vice president of programs at the blue moon fund and is now a strategy consultant. Previously, he served as program officer for the Sustainable World Program of the W. Alton Jones Foundation, senior program advisor at Rockefeller Foundation and the Director for Information and Communication at LEAD International during the 1990s. Additionally, during the 1980s he served as Executive Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy for Environmental Sciences.
Dr. Zhang was born in Zhejiang province, China, and received his PhD at the Institute for Nuclear Sciences of the State University of Ghent in Belgium.
