Ecological Protection, Environmental Movements and Community Development
Dr. Qian WANG is a Senior Program Officer of Ecosystem Conservation and Community Development at GEI. Since joining GEI in May 2018, she has been conducting research on ecosystem service-based economics, the national park system, biodiversity issues, among other topics.
Qian Wang holds bachelor’s degree in social work from Shandong Technology and Business University, and a master’s degree in sociology from Hohai University. Subsequently she was awarded a scholarship by the China Scholarship Council to pursue a doctoral degree in Nagoya University, Japan. Qian Wang worked for the Graduate School of Environmental Science, Nagoya University (Global COE Program) as research assistant for two years before joining GEI, as well as in executive relative studies on a project entitled “From Earth System Science to Basic and Clinical Environmental Studies.”
Qian Wang has extensive sociological research experience and is familiar with a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Her research fields are related to environmental movement, environmental awareness and behavior, public participation, renewable energy innovation, sustainability etc. Additionally, Qian Wang has published a number of academic papers in Chinese, English and Japanese.
In her spare time, Qian Wang is an aerobics enthusiast. She is very passionate about long-distance running, yoga and mountain climbing. She also enjoys gardening potted plants, flower arrangements, and other hobbies.
