In order to achieve sustainable development in rural areas, communities must be introduced to renewable sources of energy that suit their local situation and capacity. The renewable energy technology must be introduced with a mechanism that supports maintenance, scaling-up and education.
Researching and investigating suitable renewable energy technology and policies that could help introduce these technologies to the communities is central to realizing a sustainable future in all levels of development.
Needs:
Help communities achieve a green development path through introducing renewable energy technology that can take the place of wood-fired or coal-fired energy sources.
Approach:
We conduct on-the-ground research of community livelihoods to understand what renewable technology is suited then propose and implement a strategy to introduce the technology to the community.
Introduce renewable energy technology to rural areas so to aid development and ensure that the community develops in a low-carbon way.
Our research projects proved that, when implemented via a market mechanism opposed to a one-off donation, renewable energy technology can play a significant role in development;
Donation of 193 solar panels, 180 cook stoves and a solar-powered light connected to a community development fund to rural Myanmar in a pilot project village;
The first Chinese NGO in Sri Lanka for our project that provided biogass digesters to rural villages.
